QWTF Lives!

The Scout

General Characteristics:

Health: Medium
Armor: Very Light
Speed: Very Fast
Potential Damage Output: Low
Role: Offense

The Scout is a highly mobile class, he is number 1 on the roster and personifies the speed of QWTF. He is the weakest class in the game when it comes to weaponry, but his equipment and sheer speed make him one of the best attackers in the game. He comes equipped with a Motion Detector/ Scanner which can be used to detect enemies and enemy buildings through walls, floors and ceilings, giving him the ability to perform recon naissance like no other. His concussion grenades can be used to throw enemies out of their defensive position and it can propel the Scout at great speed if the Scout jumps at the right time at when the grenade explodes nearby. However, when hit by a concussion grenade explosion the player starts to stumble and struggles to move on land and in water. The Scout is also equipped with caltrop canisters, when thrown they disperse spikes across the ground which grant a slowing effect to anyone that were to step on them.

The Sniper

General Characteristics:

Health: High
Armor: Light
Speed: Medium
Potential Damage Output: High-Very High
Role: Defense

The Sniper is the perfect class for anyone that wants to fend of enemies from a distance. His sniper rifle is deadly accurate and when fully charged it can kill every single class if you hit the enemy's head. The sniper doesn't need to kill to slow down an enemy push however, as his leg shots cause injuries so severe his victims are temporarily slowed and the massive damage caused by a non-lethal sniper shot usually deters any attacker to continue forward. He is also able to switch his sniper rifle into an automatic mode. This mode deals way less damage per shot but it is a great self defense tool in a pinch. The sniper also carries hand grenades for self defense as well as flares to light up dark areas where enemies might choose to hide. Over all, the Sniper is a effective defensive class on maps with elevation and large open areas, although his notoriety in later years has lead to him being heavily restricted or even outright banned in most competitive matches.

The Soldier

General Characteristics:

Health: High
Armor: Heavy
Speed: Low
Potential Damage Output: High
Role: Offense & Defense

The Soldier is the quintessential class of any QWTF team. His high health & armor combined with the powerful rocket launcher gives him both power & maneuverability. To some it might seem like the Soldier would be a useless class on attack due to his low speed, instead it has been shown that the Soldier is one of the best attacking classes of all time. This is because he comes equipped with some of the most powerful weapons & grenades, but also because there are a number of skills you can learn to make the soldier infintely more useful. One is bunnyhopping, which gives all classes more mobility and speed and isn't just restricted to Soldiers. Another skill that all good Soldiers master is rocket jumping. When used correctly, rocket jumps can give the Soldier speed and/ or height which can be very useful in conjunction with bunnyhopping for greater speeds, or to reach areas that usually require the Soldier to walk a long path that might be very dangerous.

The Demoman

General Characteristics:

Health: High
Armor: Medium-Heavy
Speed: Medium
Potential Damage Output: Very High
Role: Defense

The Demoman is one of the most important classes on a team. He can serve well in both offense in defense thanks to his arsenal. On defense he wreaks havoc with manually detonated pipe bombs and MIRV grenades. Whilst on offense he utilizes his detpack to blow up alternate routes for his team to take and he uses MIRV grenades to clear out rooms and enemy buildings. His arsenal is based around explosives, and his two primary weapons are the grenade launcher and the pipe launcher. The regular grenades explode on impact with an enemy whilst the pipe bombs are remotely detonated and can be placed on the ground to set traps, denying enemies access to an area unless they kill the Demoman or pass him quickly enough to overcome his reaction time and gamesense. The combination of MIRVs and pipe boms makes the Demoman a dangerous foe with the highest firepower available in the game. He is commonly used to lock down entrances or tight spaces where it's hard to evade his explosives while other classes cover his back in direct firefights.

The Medic

General Characteristics:

Health: High
Armor: Medium
Speed: Fast
Potential Damage Output: Moderate
Role: Offense & Defense

The Medic doesn't fill any single specified role as his arsenal of weapons and equipment allows him to do several different things and satisfy several roles on a team. His main intended role is and has always been to support his teammate by healing the ones that have been damaged or suffering from any negative effect (hallucinations, concussions, leg trauma etc). His medikit/ bioweapon serves two purposes, healing teammates and infecting enemies with a life-long disease that can only be cured by another Medic. The Medic can also be used as a competent defender and attacker depending on the situation and his position. His speed allows him to swiftly enter the enemy base and using his super nailgun, shotgun and hand grenades he can easily clear out enemies. He can use his concussion grenades in the same manner as the Scout does with the added bonus that he recovers from a concussion twice as fast.

The HWGuy

General Characteristics:

Health: High
Armor: Very Heavy
Speed: Very Slow
Potential Damage Output: High
Role: Defense

The HWGuy is a walking tank armed with a deadly arsenal. His assault cannon rips and tears through his enemies with its automatic fire and his MIRV grenades only add to the carnage. The HWGuy is a staple defender as he is very limited when using the assault cannon. Whilst firing it, the HWGuy is unable to move around and sits stationary to tank the enormous recoil. The recoil of the assault cannon worsens as you keep on firing and combined with limited movement you need to position yourself wisely to make the HWGuy a viable pick. If you even remotely want success with the HWGuy on offense, bunnyhopping and well timed grenades are your best friends. The offensive HWGuy only really has his super shotgun to defend himself with and it usually isnt strong enough to take down sentry guns or defenders by itself, therefore MIRV grenades and hand grenades are very important and useful to clear out defensive nests. The offensive HWGuy's strength is his durability, with the best armor in the game and a high health pool, he can take several hits and keep on moving.

The Pyro

General Characteristics:

Health: High
Armor: Medium-Heavy
Speed: Medium
Potential Damage Output: Medium-High
Role: Offense & Defense

The Pyro is a jack off all trades, master of none. He is the firestarter of QWTF and his arsenal can be described as flaming hot. He comes equipped with a flamethrower, a incendiary cannon and napalm grenades, which all disperse fire in different ways. The incendiary cannon works like a incendiary rocket launcher, where the blast damage is instead exchanged for a fire effect that can go through thin walls and has a large area of effect. The flamethrower deals moderate damage per hit and just like the incendiary cannon it deals fire damage over time. The napalm grenades explode several time before despawning, each explosion ignites anything within its radius. Luckily for him, he is equipped with fire-resistant armor, making self damage unlikely when using his fire based weapons. The remainder of his arsenal isn't as unique however, consisting of a single barelled shotgun and hand grenades. The single barreled shotgun is the Pyro's only hope in long distance fights but its miniscule damage output makes it only good for pot shots and chip damage.

The Spy

General Characteristics:

Health: High
Armor: Medium
Speed: Medium
Potential Damage Output: Medium
Role: Offense

The spy is one of the most unique classes in QWTF. The Spy's disguise allows him to pass the sentry gun without being targeted if his disguise matches the team color that the sentry belongs to, giving him the ability to pierce deep behind enemy lines. He is also armed with a knife that allows him to silently assassinate enemies instantly by stabbing them in the back. This, combined with his tranquilizer pistol, the double barelled shotgun and a nailgun allows him to take on most defenders if played properly with well thought-out tactics. The spy is also equipped with gas grenades, that release a large cloud of toxic gas that damages enemies within the cloud and leaves all affected players with lasting hallucinations. Adding to the mind games, the Spy is able to fake his death, laying down on the ground as a corpse and leaving a backpack making it look like the Spy was killed. Unless someone is standing on top of him, the Spy can stand up again whenever he pleases to hunt down is next victim.

The Engineer

General Characteristics:

Health: High
Armor: Medium
Speed: Medium
Potential Damage Output: High
Role: Defense

The Engineer is a staple defender in QTWF. His arsenal of weapons and buildings makes him a very powerful defender but he also has some offensive utility. The Engineer's strength on defense comes from the area denial provided by his sentry gun. If a sneaky Spy or Scout manages to pass other parts of your defense they'll usually meet their maker once they enter the same room as your sentry. A sentry gun tears lighter classes to shreds and is very effective when finishing off wounded attackers that broke through the first linesof defense. The Engineer can also construct a dispenser to provide teammates with ammo and armor. The dispenser can also be used to block access to certain areas and when detonated, all of the ammo currently in the dispenser explodes simultaneously, killing or maiming anyone nearby. The Engineer is also armed with EMP grenades that detonate ammo carried by enemies upon a successful hit. The EMP grenades can also destroy pipe bombs and are very powerful against sentries, granting the Engineer a strong offensive utility.
